what a wonderful idea.................

"Dare to be average!"
I have been a "flybaby" for a while now and it has made a huge difference in my life.
For those who don't know about the Flylady, here is her webbie:
the thought that you can dare to be average is an interesting one
you need not be the very best, if you are having fun.
you need not get "A" grades, if you are learing for enrichment.
you need not be the master artist, if you can feel good when you paint.
you need not make a fortune, if you can enjoy what you do at work.
we will not all be the Bill Gates, Mozart, Richard Feynman, Bach, VanGogh, Stephen Hawking, Mick Jagger, or Sean Connery in our chosen profession..........
what ever profession that might be.
but we can enjoy what we do,
how we live,
and who we are
to the fullest possible extent of our being

  1. I don't know about this. It's good to accept yourself and any failings you might have but you should always be striving to do your best. If you accept what you have done as acceptable, even though you could have done better, then you are cheating yourself. On the other hand, it's good to be satisfied with what you've done if you know you have done your best. I agree you should measure your success or failure by your own measuring stick and be happy.

  2. The flylady is really about housework (well mostly about housework) & keeping the place you live comfortable, livable and ready to have an open door at any time.............
and not beating yourself up about not having the PERFECT house, the PERFECT life, the PERFECT job, the PERFECT spouse/kids/self........................perfection & the quest for that in day to day things can be a paralyzing force....................so to be average is not a bad thing..........we are not all Tiger Woods or Jerri Garcia or Mae West..................so accepting that we are wonderful in & of ourselves is a good thing....................striving for betterment is not the same thing as accepting that soemtimes we will be average, while striving for Perfection is ultimately self-destructive..............and that is the core message of daring to be average.................if you try something new every chance you get, that is a way to better yourself............and at most things we will (by the nature of being human) be average, but we did TRY and that is the best thing ever.
