lifelines

"Some one ought to do it, but why should I?"
--
"Some one ought to do it, so why not I?"
Between these two sentences lie whole centuries of moral evolution.
Annie Besant
so I try

I try to do what ought to be done.........

I try to live my life with purpose and clear intent
it is not easy nor is it clear
& yet I keep trying
the work of few is felt by many
we work
we try
we find a way to be heard
I live in a haiku

or so it seems sometimes
as there is only the echo of my work
in the actions of others

dreams & goals

there are goals at the end of our dreams
they are the reason we get up and move in the morning
those are often little goals
getting out of bed
or
getting thru the day
or
getting to the weekend
no matter how small,
they still count as goals
the dream we have of life lived well make each of those a reality
then there are the BIG goals
career
family
personal value
they also are a part of a life lived well
enjoy this link:
it's all about a goal being a dream with a dealine
live well

what a wonderful idea.................

"Dare to be average!"
I have been a "flybaby" for a while now and it has made a huge difference in my life.
For those who don't know about the Flylady, here is her webbie:
the thought that you can dare to be average is an interesting one
you need not be the very best, if you are having fun.
you need not get "A" grades, if you are learing for enrichment.
you need not be the master artist, if you can feel good when you paint.
you need not make a fortune, if you can enjoy what you do at work.
we will not all be the Bill Gates, Mozart, Richard Feynman, Bach, VanGogh, Stephen Hawking, Mick Jagger, or Sean Connery in our chosen profession..........
what ever profession that might be.
but we can enjoy what we do,
how we live,
and who we are
to the fullest possible extent of our being

family

You hear a lot of dialogue on the death of the American family.
Families aren't dying.
They're merging into big conglomerates.
~~~~~~~~~~ Erma Bombeck ~~~~~~~~~~~~
and Erma is right about that,
the merging of families.
Above is just one small section
of the huge conglomerate that is my dad's side of my family.
and there they all are.
Now mind you this is only a portion of my dad's side of my family.
My mom's side is not so numerous,
but has a variety of characters that rivals larger clans.
& then there is my hubby's family
OY VEY!
what a crew they are.
All of my famliy members are wonderful people,
in their own interesting and different ways,
but without variety
how dull would visits be,
how boring conversation,
how dreary our world.
So here's to my vast, glorious, robust & wonderful family!
Love you oodles,
one & all.
floors
floors are the foundations of a room
if the floor covering is icky & ugly & old
then the room becomes an uncomfortable place to be
so I'm re-doing the floor in my spare room
the carpet was gastly nasty
tore that all up
sealed the cracks in the concrete floor
&
now I'm re-surfacing it
the concrete color isn't the most consistant
but that's mostly me since I'm just pouring it into the water for the concrete till it looks ok
the new floor is very tactile
which is kind of nice
and the color is working out mostly ok
we'll see in another coupla' sections
if there is a pattern happening or not
I can always paint it after it's all new
kind of a metaphor for ourselves
we can un-cover & then
re-cover
re-surface
re-seal
re-state
re-paint
re-heal
re-lease
& it's always at our foundation where the work starts
can you hear it?
music is the sound of god's voice in our everyday world
Jazz Is the Sound of God Laughing
http://tinyurl.com/8ejut
by Colleen Shaddox
this is a great essay
and it makes one think...............
what would the soundtrack for your life be?
bluesy and hopeful?
or gospel, joyous & uplifting?
or jazzy (the sound of god's laughter)?
or classical, delicate & resourceful?
can you find the music in your life?
can you hear the music in the world?
can you hear god laughing?
moments
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
~Rabindranath Tagore, Indian Poet, Playwright and Essayist
we so often pass thru life in fits & starts,
not really seeing what is around us,
not really feeling what is within us,
not really hearing what is said to us.
we need to remember to pause
to just wait a moment
to see
to feel
to listen
our memories are made of those moments when we took that pause
shouldn't we be making more of those every day
a man once said that this life is the longest thing we will ever do
shouldn't we enjoy more of it along the way
shouldn't we make this the journey worth remembering
shouldn't we particiate more actively in the events along the way
shouldn't we remember that we are all part of a bigger picture
leaving
Now I do try to keep the political commentary out of my blog..............
out of my journal................
and out of the workplace..........
But this needs to be said,
this needs to be commented on,
and the excerpt that most concerns me is this:
"...the new contract, to deliver intelligence services in Iraq through 2009..."
the article is here:
http://tinyurl.com/d734y
are we ever going to leave?
the government keeps saying we aren't an occupation force but contracts like this seem to indicate otherwise...................
when are we bringing our soliders home?
stitched gums
and so there is the gum graft (#2)
and from inside my mouth,
the place where the graft was harvested
harvested
what a word for this part of the operation
there was lots more blood with this graft than there was with the first
choking on it at times even
altho, truthfully,
I was practically upside down in the dental chair so the surgeon could see what he was doing
and the suction thingy was right there
but the taste....
blech
so now I get to heal
and keep my teeth
keep my health
purple part deux
so I get to go for part 2 of the gum surgery today........
not overly excited about this...........especially as the doc mentioned 'shaping' the previous gum graft........................so does this mean both sides of my mouth will be numbe & sore & PURPLE for days?
guess we get to find out in a couple of hours...............maybe I should take & post a pic this time........................
I do like the way the 1st graft took......and I lost a bit of the weight that I wanted to (eating only the very softest & luke-warm foods very slowly will do that)
and I'll be keeping my teeth for a good long time.............so it's worth it & not a vanity thing...a health thing..........vanity would be a boob job, teeth are for health.................
no really
read about it
here:
http://www.breathcleaner.com/TIPS_gums.html
It is important to know that research has shown that people with gum disease are twice as likely to suffer from heart disease. Several theories explain this link. For example, oral bacteria may enter the blood stream and intensify fatty plaque formation in the coronary arteries. Gum disease also increases the amount of fibrinogen (a potent natural clotting agent in the blood stream). That would increase the chance of blood clots and a stroke.
and here:
http://my.webmd.com/content/article/104/107269.htm
Gum disease does more than endanger your teeth and gums. It can also lead to and worsen far more dangerous ills.
so I'm keeping my health by keeping my teeth
and I can smile more & better with healthy gums which makes the day just go by all that much more happily
listening
do we really hear when we listen
(or so pretend)
to each other
to ourselves
to the world
to really hear what we are listening for, we need to pause, breathe and turn our ears on, turn our hearts on
to really hear each other, our selves & the world,
we must first hear the quiet silence of peace,
then we can truly hear, truly listen, truly understand what is being said
even if it is unspoken
so pause
breathe
be still
listen
you'll be amazed at how much you'll hear
family visit
We have family visiting
this is a good thing...........they are wonderful, generous, gentle, vivacious, spontaneous people to whom we happen to be related
an unusual occurance for many it seems
I was talking with my on-line family of buzzard sisters, and we have more than a few blood relatives that we'd rather not have to deal with any more than necessary.
I have some of those in my blood relatives as well..................but these visiting are NOT of that ilk. (which is why we are enjoying the visit so very much)
what a gift to have family members that supports & encourages each other in the day-to-day world
& what a shame that there are so few of those in our real-life world
be sure to let those you care about know you are thinking of them
give them a jingle, a hug or send a card (email or snailmail)
they are a precious, wonderful part of your world.
clean carpets
carpets take forever to dry.................
even when they are professionally cleaned & you live someplace with extremely low humidity
so we are walking on damp flooring...............not wanting to move any of our predominantly wooden furniture back onto damp carpet...........
we did decide that if this doesn't really clean the carpet of the pet-mess smell, then it will come out......piece by piece & we'll do the following:
1> paint the cement flooring
2> tile the floors
3> wood laminate
or 4> some combination of the above
this house is a bit older & the carpet had been here thru a renter or 2 (at least that's what we were told when we bought it) and that can generate areas where the current resident pets feel obligated to mark the turf as theirs...........................unfortunately that is all too often in the main living areas................
carpet will remain clean or be removed...............
and the cleaner guy (bless his heart) commented that taking out ALL the carpet in the house would be way too big a job.................
LOL...............oh my --- he's never seen me at that kind of work but my hubby has & did that comment make him laugh......
so off to watch the carpets dry & dream of hardwood laminate, tile & brightly painted flooring......................
company.........
company is coming.............
they are making lists of places to visit
things to see
foods to eat
this is going to be a good visit
it's only for a long weekend so we'll see just how much we pack in to do & enjoy
the company all by themselves will be wonderful
no matter where we go or what we see
dad's day
My dad has taught me many things....................
..........how to think & discuss those thoughts clearly
mind you it was taught by discussion of topics that we didn't agree on
........how to look at the bigger picture & our place in it
we are but a speck of time, and how we live (or don't) won't have much (if any) impact on that very big cosmic picture, but it does have immediate and lasting effect on those around us whom we love
............how to consider the other side and to think before speaking
that now might be something that causes me to pause for a bit too long in heated or urgent discussions, but when I do speak out now, it is more well formed & expressed because I did Think First
..........how to be happy in the Now
for that is really all we have. Right Now, this moment in time, and how we live it can make a wonderful memory, have a positive influence on those around us or be a blip that is unnoticed (which is a sad way to live)
............how to look around & explore where we are
adventure in the everyday places, we used to take longish drives once a week to see what there was to see around the area where we lived..............each week a new place & that is something that I continue to do no matter where I am...............
so as the song says...............Stand in the place that you live................that is something else my dad taught me
for all those things & so many more.............
Thanks Dad
& Happy Father's Day
sunshine and dust devils
it is summer ........
well nearly - June 21st is the solstice this year
and the weather is warm
the sun is shining
and the wind is making afternoon dust devils
they appear and fade like djinn
and as long as you are well away from them, they are marvels to watch
upclose, well, they can move your car very easily, or you, or your dog
respect is key here................dust devils are not to be fooled with
but they do make wonerful summer wind watching
purple
purple is an intersting color
one of my favorites.................mostly
I say mostly because there are some things that should NOT EVER be purple.......................like the inside of one's mouth............
but that is the thing that happens when one has had little bits of one's gum peeled out for grafting elsewhere in one's mouth
if only I could get a decent pic of this............it's almost Dali-ish in appearance.................but then that's just too much information I suppose
at least it doens't hurt as much as yesterday ........... and the only very soft foods are kind of fun (at least right now) like:
jello......haven't had jello in years
sherbert..............also a treat I've not had for years
mac & cheese with chopped spinach or tuna (those were staples when I was growing up)
tuna noodle casserole............
mashed potatoes, with lots of butter & melted cheese
or maybe even twice baked.....those innards are yummy soft
pasta.....lots & lots of pasta with cream sauce
altho I do suspect that by the end of 2 weeks this is going to be very old......for now it's like being a kid again.......soft comfort foods abound.................and the kitchen is getting a workout
Anne Bancroft 1931-2005
and here's to you Mrs Robinson, you were never ordinary.
"Film critics said I gave a voice to the fear we all have: that we'll reach a certain point in our lives, look around and realize that all the things we said we'd do and become will never come to be -- and that we're ordinary." http://tinyurl.com/75jlg
teeth
so today I had gum surgery.......................it hurts, it's swollen, I have a freak'nstien smile
but I will be able to keep my teeth
they are important to me, my teeth that is...............
I had years of braces and in the process many teeth got pulled
because
much to the amazement of many of my friends
my mouth was too small
it is still small
the voice I have is large but the mouth isn't
and the teeth that remain I'd like to keep
it's simple really
at least to me.............. I'd like to be in my all when spirit calls me home
and that means I do have to work to keep my teeth
other parts have been removed as health became an issue..........that will happen as we age it seems.................but my teeth, my smile, my small mouth with the large voice, those I'd like to keep
goddess reclining Posted by Hello
when we find spirit
and I do not mean that thing we all had to proclaim at pep rallies in school......but the deep abiding love that is the source of all life
.....you know, Spirit
when we find & connect to spirit (no matter what belief system you use), we become an active part of something so much bigger than ourselves, so much better than the physical being we live in day-to-day
we become an active, integrated part of the Whole
a part of Life
a piece of god
we always have the copasicty for this connection, but we get caught up in the thoughts of day-to-day living and often need a reminder
I think it was in Grosse Pointe Blank (a really good little film by the way) where a conversation takes place that fits what today was for me:
Debi: Shakabuku.
Marty: You wanna tell me what that means?
Debi: It's a swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.
that's what I got today
by spending some time connecting with Spirit
I hope it holds..................I really don't want more than one or 2 of those in this lifetime
what a great way to approach life.........
Twenty-Four Brand-New Hours
Every morning, when we wake up, we have twenty-four brand-new hours to live. What a precious gift! We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours will bring peace, joy, and happiness to ourselves and others.
< http://www.thedailylama.com/Lib/007.html >
now how do we translate that into everyday actions & affairs?
that might be the hard part.....unless we live fully conscious
now how do I do that...................how does anyone?
personally here is what I do....................
I clean my space.....less clutter means less around to bog my mind down in the morass of mess
I also try to sleep well .........lately that has been a challenge & we'll see how that shakes out in the next week
excercise.......well I've been having a walk, it's not much but I'm moving
sunshine.....there was a report last year that indicated that we need at least 20 minuts of good sunshine (no sunblock allowed for full benefit) each day for better emotional, mental & physical health, so I'm sitting in the sunshine for a while every day..................
water.........drink more, wash self daily (and I bought a snap pool.................so I'll be soaking up the sunshine this weekend on a floaty in the kiddie pool in my backyard..pretending that I'm on a beach somewhere)
meditation...........see floaty thing above......that is meditation (of a sort)
talk to family & friends..................often.................keep the lines open for good communitcation, doesn't need to be BIG talks, just daily stuff is imprtant to share as well, it keeps us connected
and that's what I try to do to live consciously
peace
Sunday, May 29, 2005
cleaning out the stuff.................
cleaning out stuff is not really a chore
it is an opening up of free space
not just re-organizing, but really clearing the home spaces and mental spaces of our lives
we look at each item, try to remeber why we kept it..............
if we remember then we might pause a bit to reflect on whether or not to keep it or we might let it go with joy that it will be gone.
if we don't know why we have it, we might pause to try to rmember or (& this is the best thing) we toss it in 'giving/going away' pile with a shrug.
when all is done & the final bit is reviewed and let go or put away...........
there is a sense of accomplishment
a sense of a job well done
and more space in our heads, our rooms, our lives to build new memories
for some this means more room for more stuff...........
I've been de-cluttering, cleaning out, spring cleaning, nesting..........
what ever you wnat to call it................
for a while now.............
and with a passion since we moved to the desert
there is somthing in the austerity of the open spaces that is cleansing & I want that in my home & in my head
what I keep are things that mean something, really mean something
what I keep in my head should be good thoughts, good memories, lessons learned and hopeful dreams
the down talk is going
the hurtful memories are gone
the painful hurts have been re-aligned as lessons or let go
clearing out that kind of stuff makes me feel less frantic, more at peace & I am a better person to those in my life for doing so
a sign.............of sorts
so even in back then..........
somehow......
someway...
I knew I'd be out here on old route 66
or perhaps it was really was just a cuppa' coffee.............
they both are a source of happiness.......
the old route 66 we live on & the cuppa coffee
just might be a sign
just stuff
been a long week & not over yet......................
grandpa had his funeral on wednesday ...................
haven't had a chance to chat with aunts & uncle about anything......they are busy with the loss of their father..............
it is so hard to lose anyone you love & a parent (or grand parent) can be the hardest............no matter how "expected" it is.................it never really is what you expect it to be
moving up takes on a new meaning wiht these losses.................
we are in line to take care of your aging parents............to assist as they need us.......we are not the childern any more.
we are the adults
we are looking at taking care of our childern & our parents, possilby both of them at the same time.....................
we be the sandwich generation..................working 40++ hours/week, caring for both our kids & our parents ............who need may us even more than our childern do...............................
sad news....................
sadness seems to be in the air.......
my grandfather (my dad's dad & my last remaining grand parent) passed away on thursday evening while dad was here visiting with us.............
grandpa had been hospitalized on the very day dad got here to see us (2 day drive from KCMO to ABQ) and dad's siblings wanted him to come home right then to be there to help take care of things...........
my dad had been the primary care giver for grandpa for the past 9 years for grandpa & really doing everything for grandpa (except for bathing & such personal stuff) for the past 3 (nearly 4) years -- ever since grandpa had his pacemaker put in......................... this was only the 2nd time he'd been away for more than a few hours from providing for grandpa in those nearly 4 years
while it was hard for him to be away.......he had no energy to go back right away & deal with anything...........he had always been there to handle it all
he mentioned that it had been nearly 25 years that he'd been taking care of his parents.......back when when grandma was first diagnosed with cancer.........
he left his own place to go back home to live with grandpa & grandma to help take care of things ..................and he never got to leave for his own place again.........
until now......... when he gets to go home to what is now all his own place & his own space
so as a note for any of you caring for others................
remember to take time for your self ...............
take time to Care for yourself......
it is Not a selfish thing to do ...it is a neccessary thing to do............
time off
time away
this recharges us
renews us
lets us be the best we can for the people that need us
Thursday, May 05, 2005
time is the thing
while it seems like we never have enough of it ............
or it stretches out so long before us............
we are always given the same number minutes in the day
it is how we use them that matters in the end.................
so take today (well everyday really) and spend a minute to make a wonderful memory for yourself and your loved ones..............
one minute, or take five, you can do that, to build a memory
it won't matter that you don't know when exactly it happened,
what will matter in the times to come Is That IT DID Happen
take your life back, give yourself a minute to build a memory
latitude & altitude.............
...........the higher you go, the colder it gets
I'm talking about alitiude & latitude
fortunately we live a lower latitude than we ever have before
but it is a higher altitude than we ever have before
this combo makes for wonderfully variable weather in the spring time
snow closing the mountain pass this weekend and elswhere the rains are settling out the dust
& blooming............we are beginning to bloom ......finally
altho some of those poor blooms are having to survive late spring snow
which makes a great pic but it's a bit chilly on flowers & toes
so the shorts & sandals vie for attention with the boots & jeans
welcome to spring in the high desert
bring a jacket
it's the little things..............
.............that mean the most
and in the memories I have of my just passed friend, it's precisely those little pieces of her, tiny flashes of what she did, what she enjoyed and who she was, that bring on the tears
"The place where she sat at the dining table was just as it was when I was there last, piles of beads and mail and grocery receipts ... the microscope slides we had worked on ... except that there was a clean towel spread out and a small pile of seed bead soup on it ... larger beads in a bowl next to it. She really did get a lot of comfort from the bead soup."
~~~from an email by a bbuzzard friend about our lost sister~~~~

In reality, life is perverse and human beings don't get what they deserve.*

so unfair...............................

today was one of those horrible days

one of my dearest friends died today..... unexpectedly.... abruptly....

she was ill

altho she wouldn't let her family or friends know just how bad she felt.....
it was always,
for her,
others first............ so we didn't know

she beat her cancer ..................
only to be hurt deep inside by the treatments she'd recieved for it.......
then stress from the loss of her husband, she looked at finishing raising her boys all alone............

and being all alone for the first time in her life.....................

she was strong tho.................. she was planning her life for herself

she was re-meeting the people in her life that had been important (family & friends from far away times & places)
and she was meeting new folks.....making new friends with interests that she shared & hadn't been able to indulge

she will be greatly missed
she was greatly loved

we bead this frog for you dear friend

go in peace
go with god

the real night light

well................the blog-o-sphere ate my 1st try at this post..............................

2nd try

the moon was shining brightly thru my window last night
all night
very bright
of course the sunrise was obscured by clouds (raining somewhere in the valley it appeared)
and the lunar eclipse was not to be seen the previous night...................... (& nutz to that as I really did want to see the earth's shadow pass over the moon)

but last night...............ever so bright was the moonlight...............all night

and being bracketed by the solar eclipse & then lunar eclipse.............well those 2 weeks were a bit wonky

productive (we got the guest room painted and the house is staying clean, ready for company) but wonky none the less...........................with IRS taxes (we owed) and an FDA inspection at work (we passed) and the weeds cut down in the backyard (at least for as far as the cord would run for the weed-eater)

so we are ready for tourist season..............................at least in my little corner of the world

and the night light is the best when it's the moonlight

bunny fights & thunderstorms

what an odd day yesterday was...................

bunny fighting in the backyard.................they would stare at each other then kick up some dust & then charge each other................KA-POW they'd bump each other's chest.....................then back off & start the whole thing all over.........the dogs just watched from the porch................curious but not enough to get between warring bunnies

then thunderstorms last night..............didn't get to see the lunar eclipse for the rain..................and lightning with full on thunder....................THAT the dogs did try to challenge with barks & charges................all night long

won't get involved in bunny turf wars but will tilt with the thunder

go figure
or nap and not worry about it ...................
yes that's my plan
a nap to make up for the fierce thunder fighting that kept me up all night long

just so I don't dream of being a bunny in a fight

basking in the sunshine Posted by Hello

finally..............

.............springtime for really & truly

with rainstorms, and REAL rainstoms not just rain turning to snow showers

with thunderstorms, great booming lightning laced & hail beaded thunderstorms

with warmth in the sushine, bright warm glorious toe-tanning sunshine

and the birds are nesting or preparing to with lots of love songs and territory songs in the monrings and evening

and the lizards are back out basking and watching for the bugs

and the butterflies are wending thier way thru the flowers that are blooming

what a good idea

Dive deeply into the miracle of life and let the tips of your wings be burnt by the flame, let your feet be lacerated by the thorns, let your heart be stirred by human emotion, and let your soul be lifted beyond the earth.
Pir Vilayat Inayat KhanCall of the Dervish

when we find ourselves pausing in our lives,
for any reason,
rembering to dive in (let go & freefall as a good friend of mine says) is liberating.

we are released from the confines of our minds (those internal voices that deride us for past misses, percieved failures & beat us up in self-doubt) are silenced.

it might be for just a moment but it is time enough to stretch our wings & fly.

solar light

the solar eclispe was yesterday afternoon

the power of the sun & moon on our systems as biological beings was shown full on

the gravity pulls the tides (water being the principle)
as it also pulls us (we be greater than 90% water)

the energies of the day changed as we got clooser to then into & then out of the eclipse

sun & moon traveling across the same line of sight to our section of the world

just a bite was all the moon took this time but it was more than enough

to recharge us
to move us
to remind us of the world beyond our planet

here's to traveling in peace thru our world

quote de jour

"If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it's not your path.
Your own path you make with every step you take.
That's why it's your path."

--Joseph Campbell

so very true
& so very hard to put your feet where they should go,
to make your own path,
rather than following where others have trod down the grass already.

walk well today so that your memory is all your own

writer's block

what is the fastest way to create writer's block?

for me it is to be told that I should be writing..............sheesh, a comment made as a compliment and the words in my head go hide

so today it's music, lots & lots of music
and photos, lots of phots

going to be making more photo stories

Hope to find my voice in those picture with music instead of on the page or paper

family time

family time is the very best time

or not....depends on the family, depends on the day

for today tho, it's all good.

it's easter and for some folks that is a special holiday
holidays of this sort can be a big huge deal or not depending on the family & spending time on a holiday with family can be a chore rather than a gift

try to make today, actually everyday, a gift of time spent with family

we only get so many days.......enjoy then when we are in them

words

words can make or break
they can help or harm
cure or curse
such simple things with such great power
use your words well

my friend jerri hit the nail on the head today.................read more at her blog

because as it was said once by Samuel Taylor Coleridge:
Poetry: the best words in the best order.

welcome to the middle of the week

so where is the fish?

that never got properly answered................

yeah ...I need to watch more movies & more current films..........but with so many interesting offbeat films out there why stay mainstream?

the full moon this weekend just beggs for a visit to the drive-in.......and there isn't one

not anymore................they went away.

but we do have the huge mega movie complex
20 theaters in one place with real food (not just popcorn anymore kids)
yeah...eating pizza in the dark with a movie...............
I'd rather do that at home where the pause button works..............for when the pizza sauce drips onto my lap

so we watch the odd movies, at our own odd times, in our own odd world.

at least it's green Posted by Hello

spring time = weed time

well it is spring time & the weeds are taking over my yard already.

the goat's head are the worst.............and they get in your feet, carpet, dogs fur, foot pads and do they ever HURT!

they are green & growing tho.........once we get them pulled up the yard will be sand again

until the patio gets put in.......looking forward to summers in the sunshine on the back patio.................

but for now.............it's spring & that means it's time to weed

trying to nap............... Posted by Hello

relaxed................. Posted by Hello

cats at rest

there is something calming about a cat napping..................

they are so completely asleep & yet an eye will just barley open or an ear will twitch and then they snooze again..................

aware of what's around them & yet totally relaxed

if only we could rest so well...............

sometimes, I guess, we do....................

but not often enough I'd bet

been a while

Past the Ides

Past St Patrick's Day

Past the new moon

been a while

feels like a friday kind of day......and TGIF

the sun is out altho, it's still a bit chill
and the flowers are recovering from the (hopefully) last gasp of winter
the mountains have lots & lots of snow so summer shouldn't be to full of fire....

just the fire in the sky ........warm sunshine should be heading our way anyday now and I am so ready...cabin fever is setting in but the chill outside is still trying to keep us in....................

so here's the thing

we get all the time in the world, every day of our life a gift, to enjoy ourselves & what do we do....

we work too many hours in the day..........because otherwise we can't afford to enjoy ourselves
we get too little sleep at night.....so we can stay up 'just one hour more' to be enjoying ourselves
we hit the snooze button'just one more time' ..............becasuse we're too tired to actually get up to have fun ..............and this is especially true on our days off of work

and why is it that we are "off" work?
do we have to be "on" at work?
maybe that's why we are so tired and not having any fun..........
if we were "off" AT work more often then perhaps we'd enjoy our work more and not have to fight to find the time "off" to have fun

but then it's wednesday, so who really knows........

change.........

normally I'm not a big fan of static condidtions......
change can be a good thing......it is one of my favorites events in life

having said that I will add that some change really sucks to get thru, it not the change itself that can be so stressful it is the transitioning

these are the big changes: death, birth, moving, new job......well you get the idea

the passing thru these times are what causes the most stress, concern, worry, even the joy of new job, new place to live, new addition to the family can be stressful.

& on days like today, the alarm clock going off in the morning can be just a bit much.

so upsy daisy............being to smile & enjoy the new day.

change is there in every moment

if we choose to embrace it and roll with it the time goes by more smoothly than if we keep trying to hit the snooze alarm and pause life.

Anais Nin:
Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through.

Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it.
This is a kind of death.

sunday musing

My g'pa is in hospital this weekend...............

they are doing all the very right things but it's kind of sad to see that life truly does sneak up on us & pass by when we least expect it

time slides on by while we are busy doing things...............so remember to take a pause to tell the folks that are important to you that you love them..........while you can

Thursday, March 03, 2005

is it really thursday?

no really, I'm asking...........it feels like a monday
hectic, disjointed & rushed
a monday kind of day..............

thursdays should be smooth
you've gotten almost all the way thru the week, the time off is in sight, and things should be winding down

but not today

new technology

Now I'm not a techno-geek, but I do like the newer technologies
so when my cell phone died (it's been a long slow death) I finally broke down & got a new cell phone

this dang thing has bells and whistles......Lots of them

and a owners manual that is a 1/2 inch thick (just so you know what to do with all those bells & whistles........................

I have read the manual twice....... as I'm not very sure about just pushing buttons to find my way round...which is my usual way of working with technology (you find the most interesting things about your computer that way)

and I'm still not sure how to add a name & phone number to my list, nor is it very clear about how to clear out those logs of recieved calls..............unless I have to save the number then delete it.............which is a waste of time esp if its a telemarketer

so after work today, I get to play with my new phone...............maybe I'll get a call that I can try to answer.................haven't even figured out that yet...........would be a good thing to be able to answer the phone when it rings
